i think i first loved this song when i realized the "now, who drinks  a cherry coke? / baby-you're-nerous-i-that-bead-of-sweat-daaaaaanin-on-your-cheek" part is some straight up spoken word magic.

In honour of the premiere of Chasing the Saturdays, i give you this masterpiece.

All five girls get a chance to sing. Frankie and Mollie get an opportunity to not have to sing in a weird range, so they sound better than usual.

I think this is one of those songs that just got better and better with time. and i hope North America accepts them, as i reallllllyyyy wanna see them live.

I see Stooshe as a reinvented TLC. I love how their album is super throwback (including a cover of TLC's Watterfalls).
I also love how they each get a chance to sing, and how their feistyness is evident in their performance.
It's like the real life dream girls.

we saw that at the prelims/semi finals of the landmark music competition after a friend's band (Highs) and i legit thought " crap.. i'm here supporting my friends... bbuuuuuutttt the Bends are so gooood...."

they came out in their shirts and ties and we thought "this is going to be amazing or No. just No."

The simplicity of this song is what makes it epic.

i also feel it shows a really tender side of Nicole... which is a side we never see as she is a hard ass bitch on MTV live.

the buildups in the song are crazy, and so are the layers. the layer is epic.

so is the way she says beau-tay.

January 16, 2013- Freddy Hall - Won't Go Down Like That

I was thinking about Freddy Hall today, the Brainwash showed up during a shuffle on my ipod.

i used won't go down like that in a slideshow for the kids i did placement with for their digital yearbook.

a year later, one came up to me with her phone and she went "LOOK WHAT I BOUGHT ON ITUNES!" and it was this song!

Freddy Hall / Freddy Hall and the Best Intentions is genius. done and done.

I think this was the first video i ever saw that made me stop and think.

I love how TLC will be making a resurgence this year! also loving T Boz's TLC reality show right now.

So i legit believe this song is amazing!

i think i got the lizzie mcguire movie soundtrack because Atomic Kitten was on it... and then fell in love with this gem.. bought their album as well as Boomkat's.

I think i used the term "punk debutante" in a closing paragraph on an essay i wrote in 10th grade english on Juliet.

it's the time to unwind (sip some wine to unwind) baby par avion...

I feel that my vacation cannot come sooner... going crazy at work. but its all good.

January 12, 2013 - Said the Whale - Camilo (The Magician)

I spent this morning looking at childrens' books and lesson planning with my teaching partner.

so the animation is reminiscent of what I've been looking at all day.

I remember seeing this on the wedge once and FALLING IN LOVE with the song and the adorable-ness of the video.

I saw Said the Whale live at Yonge and Dundas square with Ramesh and i called my niece when this song came on (as she also really liked it).

January 11, 2013 - Chris Garneau - Dirty Night Clowns

So yesterday, my friends and I went to see Avenue Q at the Lower Ossington Theatre. soooo good. I haven't laughed this much and this hard at anything in a long while. *my friends moreso than the show.
had a long day at work, then had some ramen, and then had a metro oreo cupcake. then went to the show.

so the perfect song of the day features a video with my favourite use of puppets. I know it isn't the same kinf of puppets they use in Avenue Q, but its the best i could do.

I like how the ending of the video kind of happens. like the skeletons, and bear, and scary clown kind of just wanted to perform... and that was it.

January 10, 2012 - Emerson Drive - I Should Be Sleeping

It was a country music day to work this morning. Busted out some Emerson Drive, some Adam Gregory, and a bit of the Wilkinsons.

i remember seeing these guys on CMT when i was younger and then thinking how amazing this song was. i totally got it off of audiogalaxy and then borrowed the CD from the public library.

i think i like it because of the rhyme in the chorus.. its so forced. but so damn good.

January 9, 2013 - Blaque f. Left Eye - I Do

The Internet was down yesterday. I have to make up for it today.

I watched some bring it on yesterday, and in tribute to lafred, lava, and janelope (Blaque) my song of the day is "I Do" featuring Lisa left eye lopes. 

I would choose as if, but I feel that this song and video were so amazing tht te two can't compete. 

I remember burning 808 on a cd for a friend of mine, and said " I didn't know you liked THIS kind of music"

This is my daily life.. however, there is no Todd with muffins (the video has cupcakes....lies)

Sometimes I have to tell myself that I should be glad I have a job in the first place.

January 6, 2013- Kat DeLuna feat. Busta Rhymes - Runt he Show

I went to my brother's house to perform some I.T. tasks... i had fun with my niece and nephew. my seven year old niece and I played just dance four, and Kat Deluna was on it.

I feel that "Run the Show" is a song that was under-appreciated when it was released. "Whine Up" did well, but this didn't which sucked. I also feel that Kat is an under-appreciated pop star, sometimes she may seem like the Dominican-American version of Canada's Elise Estrada... kinda putting out similar tracks to what is currently out there... but i still feel that "Run the Show" is GENIUS.

January 5, 2013 - Carly Rae Jepsen - Tug of War

Went to dinner with two of my friends today, (and went out for lunch with another friend - all you can eat sush.. that only played kpop videos, our favourite was tiny-g) and we heard "Good Time" by Owl CIty and Carly Rae.

"Tug of War" is better than "Good Time", so i'll talk about that.

This is the perfect pop song because:

1. repetition
2. the layering
3. the extension to longer/stronger
4. it makes me want to jump (like the time I was at the Marianas Trench concert with Andrea)
5. you can hear her pouty lips

January 4, 2013 - Spring Awakening - My Junk

So i just got back from seeing Les Mis.

there were no perfect songs from that musical.. however lots of kermit singing... my friends.

anyway, i feel that the most perfect song from a musical is "My Junk" from Spring Awakening.

when the tour was here, i saw it SEVEN times...

i love the ensemble during the second verse through to the end.

so perfect.

My junk is Spring Awakening.

January 3 2013 - Jack Penate-Got My Favourite

I got to hang out with two of my friends today (we had dinner), and had a lot of fun reminiscing about high school and all the untold stories about other people... havent laughed that much in a while.

Jack Penate is someone who i found by accident. i think I was looking at the artist roster on XL records ( i really like the basement jaxx) and came across Jack. What i loved was the purity of the tracks,. he doesn't try to hide behind anything doesn't rely on gimmicky sounds, its just legit good music.

so in trying to connect dinner and this song.. can't but i can say that the joy this song brings me is a lot like the fun i have with my friends.

January 2, 2013 - Anthony Rapp - Out Out Damn Spot.

My niece and I saw Anthony's one man show "Without You" today. It was much much better than I thought. We LOVED the book when we read it a few years ago, so I had hoped that it was going to be good. 

In anycase, in tribute to Mr. Rapp, the song I choose for this one is "Out Out Damn Spot" from his album Look Around. 

My truth found in this song: If you wanna know the truth about my life it's a mess it's a mess it's a mess it's a mess. 

Where did my friends go? 

I remember buying his album from PURETRACKS!!!!! and then again on iTunes.. and then i bought a physical CD. Rent was a huge part of my musical theatre history and I hold it (and the actors that have been in it) in a special place.  However, after the show we did not wait to get anything signed... no flash, no posing thank you. 

January 1, 2013 Hunter Parrish - Sitting At Home

A song a day. Gonna try doing this again. 

I feel that this song was the song of 2012 for me. I listen to it when I shower, when I cook, when I walk down the street at night time and I pretend that I am in a music video.... 

I met Hunter in April 2012. I saw Godspell and Julia Mattison pulled me on stage to do charades ***which I have never actually played in real life... anyway, Hunter commented on my Stephanie Tanner shirt and made me model it for the audience. then said he liked my shoes. from that moment, he became my favourite person (or George Salazar who sang the full house theme at me and said "you're having trouble with words. Good thing you're not an english major.." to which i responded: "I AM". 

in anycase, they put me out of my misery and i got to move on. i then bought Hunter's EP at the merch table. I couldn't listen to it until i got back home, as nothing i had could play CDs.... 

I deem this one of my favourite pop songs of all time. which i think will be the theme for January 2013. Be prepared for a month of crappy pop stories, and stories about my neices and I singing..
