How did I not use this song as a graduation song?
I think Simone Denny's singing embodies what I want to teach children. Don't go all out all the time. It's good to be loud and brassy and bold but if you're like that ALL the time you will be seen as being too much. You have to be able to tell yourself you're a superstar without being in your face. Simone is living it at 3:10 and that is what kids need to learn. let it shine and commit to it. At the same time, being sassy and having an attitude is completely different from being rude and offensive. Like Simone's voice, its spurts of finger wagging but lots of inspirational smiles as well. Don't forget: You're a superstar.
